New 2019 Midnight edition z71

Hey guys! Just bought a 2019 z71 midnight edition today and super happy with it so far after 100 miles! Anyone have any break in tips? First new truck so I'm trying to not screw anything up as I'd be the one to blame. Any other things to look out for or keep an eye on during break in? Just hoping I don't get any tranny shudder. I'm scared reading the horror stories!

Cheers,

JP

Very sharp looking Truck!
Many happy happy miles to you!
Congrats!!!

As far as breaking her in..
1. Avoid very hard braking the first couple hundred miles.
2. Nothing specific regarding the engine, however it can be beneficial
to vary speed. Donít baby it too much, as you want the piston rings to seat correctly.

Of all the models the Z71 Midnight Edition is my favorite. Excellent choice. Welcome from those of us that understand and appreciate your selection of a Colorado.

Awesome truck! I have the Z71 Midnight Edition, extended cab with about 10,000 miles on it, and I couldn't be happier. One of the best things I did was get custom seat covers right away. But I have tendency to spill on anything that nice I have.

Nice truck, black is the best! So what's the interior, anything special to this edition, leather?

Thanks! No changes from a normal Z71 interior wise. The leather option is the same of you wanted it. Just black and more comfortable than the grey inserts.

Congrats on the new truck! I bought my Midnight Edition early last year and love it. I have had 1 minor issue with mine. Some type of gasket liner started to creep out on the navigation screen. A quick trip to the dealer and it was fixed under warranty. I have noticed a few squeaks/rattles popping up the past few months, but other than that, its been super solid and I love driving it everyday.

For break in, I just never really got hard on the gas much. When I do now, I really see a reduced MPG, so I tend to still be light on the gas.

As a fellow Midnight Edition owner, I will suggest blacking out the chrome fog light bezels. (easy to pop out and either plasti dip or paint) I'm still searching for black lug nuts too. Dealer wants $300 and what I've seen on Amazon seems way to cheap ($20-$30). You may want to consider getting some window tint too, it really makes the truck ever better.

Right on brother! Another Midnight on the road. I hit 20k miles last week and haven't had a single problem at all. During the fist 500 or so miles, you do not want to floor it. After that, she good!

A good quality tire shop should be able to get black lugs for you no problem.
Yes, tint the glass. Really adds to the "look"
Also the bezels.
I totally de-badged mine save for the bowties. Really looks "clean"
You will run into people all the time that say "Nice truck!"
The Midnight Edition should come with a tonnueau cover. I was wondering why yours doesnt?

Anyways, you got the best looking of the Colly line up ;)

Thanks guys! I'm loving the truck besides the tranny shudder that just started around 250 miles!! hoping to get it in next week for a flush. What's everyone getting on the highway with the midnight edition? Yeah no bed cover for me. I may add one though thats flush with the bed.

Damn that suck man. I have read so many horror stories about the dreaded shudder. Luckily, i haven't one single issue. With anything. Hopefully they can get it fixed for ya.

I'm getting about 24MPG on a long highway run. I have removed the front air dam. Not sure it hurt or helped the MPG.

Yeah it's a bummer. Only happens in 7th or 8th gear doing 40-65 so I can live with it until I take it to the shop and hopefully the new fluid will fix that. Good to know, I've heard that air damn is a pain to get off as the screw head are on the high side and pretty inaccessible. I'm still in break in getting around 23 highway.. anyone getting 400+ miles per tank? I was hoping I was gonna be getting more around 25mpg highway as I will be doing a lot of highway commuting.
