Wheel well flat spot question

Hi. I'm new here, just doing some research for my next purchase. Quick question; what are the flat spots on top of wheel well in the truck bed for?

Those flat spots are to lay a 2x6 across to support a 4x8 sheet of material.

There are also vertical slots that allow placement of lumber to divide the bed into different sections.

When hauling 8í material, the tailgate should be set at itís 45 degree (or so) setting using the cables and pegs on the side of the tailgate frame.

When posting, remember that it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to post a stupid response and remove all doubt
