Washing my truck every day

We get 2 yearly hatches of love bugs each lasting about 2 weeks in Florida. The first has been going on for 6 days and they etch the paint if they stay on more than a day or two. The pictures are after a 30 mile drive. Can't wait until its over.

I second that......my truck is too pretty to have to go through such horrific bug-clouds.

Now....zombies on the other hand, I would have no trouble plowing through a few dozen of them at a time.

I think I would stay home until they pass. It's only 2 weeks right?

Unlike bugs, zombies stick to your truck in big chunks. All you have to do is give it a day or so for them to dry out a little and, they practically fall off when you hit a pothole or two.

Also, if you apply ceramic coating, they wash off quite easily.

You should try riding a motorcycle through the Love Bugs! I lived in Louisiana for a few years, I know all about the Love Bugs... Lately, I've been having to wash my truck often because of pollen! I get this yellow dust all over my truck. But I'm not complaining, it's better than Love Bugs!!! 🌞

We get similar bugs along Lake Erie. But they are at least not as damaging to the paint as Love bugs.

I feel for you.

Feel your pain OP.....they are in TEXAS near the coast as well, but usually only once a year in the fall.....HOWEVER, I have seen a few. I have a good car wash (DIY bay) near my house, and I have ALWAYS kept a whole butt load of quarters in my cars/trucks fir this very reason.

If I lived there, definitely would seriously look into adding a "clear-bra" to front of truck. Have one on my Mustang & wife's Jeep...they do a great job w/bugs & small debris (e.g. rocks, chunks, etc.). We have shops all over Omaha who precision cut to your vehicle's specs...can't even see it, unless you get in close.

In FL we get them twice a year -- now and again in late summer. Luckily they haven't been too bad up here in Jax ... so far.

I read somewhere that their pH is below 5 ... extremely acidic.

I’ve seen you post about zombies many times. When is zombie season in NJ? I want to make sure I take an alternate route. One question, are zombie guts easy to wash off? It has to be easier than those horrible bugs in FL.

Gusto!

Yuck! And I was complaining about all the pollen that had coated my entire truck and turned it green this spring!

"Love bugs" . . We vacationed in Florida a few times during the early season hatch. Pretty intense alright. Nice to have a rental car then.
Up north in the Great Lakes area and upper Mississippi , they get the mayflies. They actually are usually present more in July unless near the river. The roads and streets can get just greasy with them. ABS doesn't even help much when the whole road gets coated.

Video shows how thick they can be. Same deal. . . wash daily and they just don't come off easily. Somebody could make a pile selling disposable car and truck bras . . .

I had the pleasure of driving several hundred miles in FL during a love-bug swarm. It ain't fun.

I remember the gas stations had out scotch-brite pads that people needed to clean their windshields. I don't get why we can extinct some spotted owl by mistake, yet we can't extinct these things? And mosquitoes?

Ever been to New Jersey? It's always zombie season there.

I lived in Jax for a year, the Love Bugs are but one reason that Florida sucks. If I lived there now, I'd have a serious ceramic coating on my car, truck, and bikes because of those little PITA.
