Thank you! Depending on pricing I plan to order the Bison skids for my ZR2

I'll bet on the skids being 2X what the supermods or 589's are. I do like the rear bumper.

Looking forward to seeing these parts available for purchase. That bumper is dreamy for sure.

USB-C Receptacle

Does anyone have any info on the 2019 USB-C outlet/receptacle for the center console, interested in upgrading from 2018 USB-type A receptacle.

I would rather use wireless Android Auto and it seems my phone (Orig Pixel XL) supports wireless but the version of Android Auto in the head unit still requires connection through a USB outlet.

Looking for part numbers for new 2019 USB-C receptacle or verification about compatibility with the 2018 wiring harness connection that plugs into the back of the receptacle.

Ugh. I was parked on the side of the road and got rear-ended by a forklift of all things. Ha ha. Dude put the forks right into the rear bumper and damn near punched a hole through it. So glad it was not 6" higher or it would have trashed the tailgate. Just got off the phone with the dealer, and he quoted me $2500 just in parts to replace the entire rear bumper.....OMG! REALLY?!? At that price, I am for sure looking aftermarket.

Any Idea when the Bison rear bumper will be available? And guesses on the cost?

#18 ·
Called AEV today. Sounds like you will be able to order parts directly from them or from GM. Should be available January when the truck drops.

Best price I could find on a stock rear bumper was $650 but that's unpainted and not through a dealership. Add shipping and getting it painted to match the truck?.....1k or more.....and that's doing all the labor yourself.

AEV guy gave a preliminary price of $1400 for the Bison rear.

What about trying to find a used bumper, salvage yard or someone who has already upgraded to an aftermarket bumper may be willing to sell their stock oem bumper for cheap?

I'm curious to see the price point on a few of these and definitely see the value in some of them (diff and fuel tank skids). The rear bumper has my attention as well but maybe not if the cost speculation is accurate. Here's a video that shows some decent footage of some of them.

Anyone know if these aev skids can work with stock zr2 skids?

I don't know the exact answer, but AEV has talked about making these parts available for all Colorado's, since they were designed with GM, my best guess is they attach to existing places, as they didn't change the frame, etc. You might need to drill a hole. If the skids in question use the same hole, you might need to get a longer bolt. The Bison should be arriving at dealerships in the next two weeks, mine is supposed to be delivered to the dealership on the 15th of this month and I can snap pictures which will give you some more information.

Check the original post, updated pricing if it was available.

Thank You for the update. Original had’t been edited since January maybe...? Glad to see you are still haunting the thread. I also found a status update on the aev facebook page from March 25 for those that are interested. I was going to post a link but FB is being a pos.

#32 ·
Right, on March 25th they said they would have two parts released that week, there is nothing new on their website since that time, except wheels for Tacoma's. Hopefully they will be able to release the parts soon. I've been waiting for the transmission skid and the bull bar since I got my Bison in Mid Jan.

I spoke to AEV recently about the trans skid and the front bumper center section with what they call the low bar. I was told both should be available later this spring. The guy I spoke with would not get any more specific but said that was per the "current gentleman's agreement" between AEV and GM.

I'm curious about the rear bumper knockouts for lights. I'm wanting to know if there is a harness there already or any kind of pre-wired accommodation for lights.

Also, I have been talking with a guy at GM Performance Parts about the front lift kit. The kit is still not available even though it is on the website. No solid ETA on it either.

I was under the rear bumper last night and the bumpouts for the rear lights have nothing behind them, might have to cut to get them out. AEV appears to making a bracket to be able to mount lights, the only wiring loom in that area is for the license plate lights and trailer wiring. My guess is there will also be instructions or an actual loom to connect the lights back there.

I wouldn't say it is GM Approved, if it really was, it would of been included in the Bison Package, as it's relatively inexpensive piece. And it doesn't appear GM will be offering that piece as an accessory. While yes it was designed by AEV with GM input, they obviously didn't want legal issues by offering it themselves.

The non-ZR2 OEM skid plates (Part #: 84352135 and 84352136) should be compatible with the AEV Bison skid plates. In one of the videos, AEV mentions that the boron steel plate is the same design as the OEM aluminum one, see https://www.shopchevyparts.com/off-...-mid-body-skid-plate/84352136-p-92300894.html, or #2 in the picture.

Also, the AEV transmission skid "plate" is just a series of bars to keep within GM's cooling requirements.

What I'm curious, is whether the AEV front skid plate #1 in the picture will work with non-ZR2 models.
