I went exploring and found the old Larrabee-Deyo truck factory. They were famous for their commercial trucks from 1916-1932. Included a press pic as well

This weekend I trimmed the pinch weld and bend the lower attachment back a bit. I really didn't want to cut into the truck but it was rubbing during turns, while parking and speed bumps.

Started mocking up my DIY raptor lights today. I got some "eagle eye" amber LED diodes pre-wired in hardware from aliexpress for a few bucks. They are cheap and I don't expect them to last forever so I bought twice as many as I need. They are extremely bright, which sort of worries me as it's possible they may burn out. They are chinese stuff after all. I may end up putting a resistor in line to knock the voltage down a bit and run them at more around 9 volts. Honestly, they're so bright that it might be better to do so anyway since they're supposed to be more accent/marker lights than running lights.

I'm going to put some sealer around the glass lens insert as it doesnt appear to be very waterproof, so that's the first step. Second, I need to drill out the steel bracket pieces I have to accommodate the diameter of the LED housing body, then bend them at a 90 degree angle on the opposite end to bolt up to the top of the grill. Next I'm going to paint the brackets flat black so they're not easily visible. I have an add-a-fuse connector I'm going to use to run them off of, haven't decided which fuse yet, I'm thinking the headlights since the lows are also the DRL's and so the raptor lights will be on full time, and I'll probably throw a small switch inline with the power so I can easily disable them if I want. All of the wiring will go in some sealed corrugated black plastic wiring loom and I will pull it up and out of the way so that its not visible and everything is water tight.

I'm actually considering "smoking" the lens of the LED's with paint so that the lights are invisible when off. I don't want them to be noticeable at all when they're not on, unlike the toyota pros kits that some poeple use. Also, these diodes are much smaller overall than the toyota pro's kit so I'm hoping that will help with the discreteness overall. Should be a fun project. Total cost so far has been about $12
Did you ever finish this? I really want to do it to my truck

Did a little more fender trimming. Went for a test drive listening for rub...no rub but it sounded like something was dragging from the truck or clanking against the wheels/axle. Had my wife stand next to the truck while I slowly drove by and she noticed it was coming from the center cap on the hub. Looked and method race wheels uses a little plastic insert for raised letters and it had fallen out and was rattling inside the center cap. Checked and sure enough 3/4 wheels had the same issue. Their plastic welder must have been on the fritz the day they were manufactured. Took the wheels off, added some super glue, and put everything back on. Hopefully it holds up...

Great looking truck. I would suggest you get some sliders and protect it. You never know what could happen.
